My Sister's Keeper

I just finished the book My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult. Dawn had left it with me last weekend while she was here.
If you haven't read it yet... WOW! Read it... Not at all what I thought would happen. Totally took me by surprise.
Also made me think a lot about what I would do to save Hannah. If put into the same place that Sara and Brian were put into, would I have done the same thing?
If you have read it, let me know what you think.

Hmm ... well, I read this a couple years ago, shortly after I stopped working at the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the University of MN Hospital ... and I did NOT like the book, I found many aspects of it to be unrealistic. I had been working with families who were REALLY in that type of situation, and I could not find familiarity in the pages of the books with the reality I knew. Now, that said, I LOVED the twist at the end. Never saw it coming.

I did find parts of it hard to read, I mean thinking if I would or could do that for a child. I didn't look at it to be realistic, sort of like the DaVinci Code.. a work of fiction. but you are right, the ending maybe why I LOVED the whole book. You know, what you remember best.
I of course have NEVER worked as a nurse in a hospital.. that is something I don't think I could do, so Karen, you have a much better understanding than what I do. But didn't you like the way she made the nurses out to be the really good guys???
