Retirement card

One of the staff (Lucy) at Kid Safari (before and after school care) is retiring on Friday. Hannah and I got her a gift, so I had to make her a card to go with it.. So here is the card. I found I really like the ribbon weaving. I used the Brown and Pomegranate that was in the mini catalog. It is a bit wider than the other ribbons and I loved it!
Sorry the pictures aren't the greatest.. I am still working on how to work the new camera, and when a good time it is to take pictures of the cards.. I will continue to work at it...

APRIL 26!!! AND It's all Dawn's fault!

OK! This is all Dawn's fault!! She is up from Iowa again this weekend for Hillcrest's carnival, and gee.. look what she brought with her! I woke up this morning and this is what I found!! IT'S April 26!! NOT February.. NOT January... BUT... APRIL!!! I hate Minnesota weather!
But all was not lost... It was the carnival at Hannah's school, so I have some pictures to show that we did have some fun!

This one is of Hannah and Dawn goofing around as we were waiting for the carnival to begin. They helped me with the silent auction baskets which were in the Media Center.
And this one is of Hannah playing some sort of game.. Not sure what it was.. but doesn't she look serious?? I mean really.. AND, she didn't win.. Oh well..
And Pat helped some too.. but here he is just taking a break.. Looking like he is in charge!!
Overall, fun day!! Glad it is over.. My last one!! (thank god!)

New Card and Blue Water

Well, last night I felt like stamping a little.. so I whipped up this little Cami Fold card. Just thought I would share. I like it.. it was really easy, which I liked even better, and I think it turned out sort of cute! I loved the colors that I chose! Coral, Apricot, and Celery!

And this is what I am reading now. I finished The Last Lecture, which was terrific! So I started this last night. I am not very are into the book yet, but it seems pretty good. I will let you know if you are interested...

Clarinet practice... a flower update... and a picture of Gretel

Well this is Hannah practicing her clarinet.. over, and over and over... OK, I am glad that she likes it. I am glad that she is keeping up with the lessons, and really, she is pretty good.. OK, that is the mother in me talking..

Thought I would put an updated picture of my orchid.. More blooms.. It really is beautiful when it blooms.. I just love it!! The flowers will last for a good 2 months!

And this wouldn't be complete without a new picture of Gretel!! She is just so cute these days!! I just had to post another one!!

The Last Lecture...

I got this book to read, I have seen the lecture, you can watch it here is the link http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8577255250907450469I am sure that some of you may have already seen it. But if you haven't, spend the 12 minutes and let it sink in.

It makes you think about life, what you would do if you were told you were dying.. What is important to you...

Duck, Duck, Tooth...

DUCK.... DUCK...

Hannah was so excited today! We were getting ready to go to dance class, when she yelled, "There are ducks in the back yard!"

Sure enough, we have 2 ducks living in the back yard! In the corner there is a fenced area that is filled with leaves, and the female duck was in the middle, I am guessing with a nest! I hope that no one bothers them, and we will soon have a little duck family! I wonder how Grets will like that!

TOOTH

One of Hannah's "fangs" is now history! When we got home from dance tonight, she pulled the little sucker out! One down, one to go...

Wonder what the tooth fairy will leave tonight!

Scrapbook

I found the instructions on how to make this little scrapbook somewhere.. I think probably Splitcoast... anyway.. I have been working on it for about 2 weeks.. not that it was hard, actually it was very easy, but the finishing of it was the difficult thing. I just didn't know what embellishments I want to use.. so that is why it is blank on the front. When I figure out what I want to put into it, I will do the "self adhesive die cuts" or something on. But for now, I thought I would post what I got done..

sorry that the photos are dark, but it's overcast and rainy out today.. so it is hard to get enough light on the pictures.

Dragonfly Case

I saw this card on Chic n Scratch blog and had to case it. I love the little dragonfly! EASY to make, so quick and cute.. I am all on that one! I made it a tent card, which I don't usually do.. but I thought it turned out rather cute!

I needed a thank you for "Grandma Sharon" from Hannah. She dropped off her belated birthday gift and a belated Easter gift on Friday, and I am a stickler for Hannah writing thank yous within days of getting gifts! So, I thought a butterfly would work, too! so I made this one! Same idea, only the wings are a bit different to make it a butterfly! So this will go out in tomorrow's mail with some nice wonderful words written from Hannah!

Hannah picture with the new camera

Well today it was pretty nice outside.. Hannah went out and was playing in the driveway after the ballet.. I captured a couple pictures with the new camera.. You can really see her "fangs" in these.. I think that a visit to the friendly orthodontist is in order!

New Camera

Well we got our anniversary gift for each other early this year.. since our anniversary isn't until May, it was really really early. We needed a new camera, our old one died a few months ago, Pat got one off EBAY, but to be honest, it sucked. You could only take about 6 pictures before the batteries would die.. Thank god we had rechargeable one. So tonight we went out and got a brand spanking new one.. It's a Nikon COOLPIX.. has all these really neat features that I am sure I will never understand how to use. Pat assures me that I will be able to download pictures easily with this camera.. we will see.. There are a lot more megapixels on this one, so my pictures should be better.. let's hope! Stay tuned for new pictures!

A Little of This, A Little of That

I realized that I hadn't posted in awhile, and well.. I felt guilty.. so here are some pictures...

This is a picture of the snow we got the other day.. on our deck, I measured 3" at 4:30 pm.. it was still snowing hard, and I know that we had a lot more after that..

These are my orchid plant. I have had it for 18 years. My mom sent it to Pat and I for our 1st anniversary.. It was from the same grower who I got my wedding bouquet flowers from. I had over 100 phalaenopsis orchids in my bouquet. I am always excited when it blooms.. and the flowers last for a good 2 months or more. I am always amazed that it hasn't died in all this time, with all the moves and all.

As I was taking pictures of the orchid, Gretel the Greyhound was right there.. I think that she wanted her picture taken too.. so.. But look at her.. how cute can you be?? (I think that she wanted a treat really...)

Hannah and Pat playing Guitar Hero.. I think that Hannah won.. or at least gave Pat a run for his money..
