Well, really... does anyone ever check these things anymore?? I looked back.. wow, I use to blog.. I use to make cards... but... after the year I have had.. looking back at 2011... I got laid off.. yup... Mid June.. no notice, nothing.. just this is it.. great.. and there are so many dental hygiene jobs out there.. YUP.. thanks for nothing... I did get to enjoy Hannah this summer.. driving her here and there.. and she is so growing up. I can't believe that she is almost 15... now has a boyfriend... Noah.. he is really nice.. but still... all of that going on.. hormones and all.. Lord help me...
but I think I am actually writing this to put down my goals for the year. Some of you may know.. that many years ago, I did weight watchers.. and lost a lot of weight.. I should have kept it up.. but no.. and gained a lot back.. so this year is my year to get fit again.. to really work at loosing the weight.. I have a goal in mind... I am not sure if I can do it... will keep this posted.. doesn't mean that I am always going to check back.. but I am going to try...

OK, now as you know.. I am a dental hygienist.. and I get to see icky stuff all the time.. I read the articles about gum disease and how to prevent it.. all that good stuff.. I learned in school that gum disease can lead to low birth rate.. but according to this article.. they have now connected it to a still born baby..

Today, I got this in an email from my BFF Dawn, and I thought that it was really good, so I thought that I should share it...

Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2.. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants...

2009 Christmas Tree.... and it's shaken... not stirred...
As usual... we went to get our tree this weekend.. I love this time... I get to enjoy the tree for the ENTIRE holiday season... so here is the trip to the tree farm.. our lovely tree... and all that happened while we were there.. (OK, not really....)
SO it was a long day in the truck for Hannah.. yes, I know it is blurry, but I was laughing and it was bumpy...
So here it is... the tree... it really didn't take us long to find it this year.. I think I am getting better at saying... "yup... this is it.." and not thinking something better is out there...
Pat doing the guy thing and cutting the tree down.. quick.. easy..
And, as I said.. our tree was SHAKEN... NOT STIRRED... it was funny... we have pine cones on the top of our tree, so when it was shaken to get stuff out.. our tree sent "stuff" flying...
Then they wrap it up for us before helping us put it on the car...
And here it is.. The finished product for 2009!

FAME... I'm gonna live forever....
We remember this.. right?? I remember LOVING this movie in the 80's.. I mean who didn't want to go to the Performing Arts High School after seeing this? Right? And the dancing and music? Who could forget this??
Well.. the remake opened this weekend. I remembered the dancing... thought Hannah would love this movie.. I mean, she is into everything 80's... sooo....
We went to the remake...
It was ok.. much MUCH more tame than the 80's cut. Still had the PAHS... still had the cast who were trying to make it..
Debbie Allen who was the dance teacher in the 80's movie was in this one..
It was OK, not great.. just OK.. not as much dancing... didn't "feel" the cast like the 80's...
Hannah did NOT come out of the movie stating that we HAD to get this movie...
Give me the 80's cut any day....

OK, so Hannah is 12.. OK, to be honest.. 12 1/2...we have an only child... I knew we were living on borrowed time after all... ... but today... while Hannah and I were driving in the car, she informed me that... the thing is.. there is no Santa... Yes, she believes that at one time there was a person who lived and was Santa.. but he's dead... (her words)
"So who is Santa then?" I asked... without missing a beat.. she replied.. "You are"... no warning.. just bam!!! No more of that special magic... done...

Vacay.. Day 2....
Nothing too special today.. Ok, does going to Sam's Club and Petsmart count?? I had an interview this afternoon, so that sort of cut into fun time.. the interview went well.. I think.. but as the Doctor said.. it's his ballgame.. he had aver 50 resumes sent to him. I thought it was good that I even got the interview.. It is only part time.. but that might work well.. we will have to wait and see at this point.
In other "news"... I got this from my Mom.. thought I would pass it on

Vacation Day 1....
So today we went to the Science Museum on Minnesota to see the Titanic exhibit. All 3 of us LOVED it. WOW... I mean how they could find rings or buttons and bring them up from the bottom of the ocean... or unbroken plates and bottles.. We were given a boarding pass before we went into the exhibit. When we got to the end of the exhibit, you got to look at the list to find out if you "made" it or not.. Hannah made it.. She was some 23 year old lady who was enjoying a trip to celebrate her divorce, and was traveling 1st class.. (which by the way, a ticket would cost about $78,000 in today's money...)Pat did not make it.. he was a 22 year old male, traveling 2nd class.. Me? well, I was a 40 year old from Minnesota, coming back from visiting her parents with her brother, traveling 3rd class.. I did not make it either..
We also went to the Omni show after... All, very good.
Have no idea what we will be doing for the rest of the week.. hm...

stuff the ticks me off...
Well today was a banner day!! I found out that my dental office is cutting me 1 day a week.. for how long?? no one knows.. WHATEVER!!! HELLO.. you might have wanted to TELL me this.. not me finding out because I was looking ahead at my schedule!! Dentists!!!
Then other stuff that just pisses me off... I had to buy Hannah new pointe shoes.. not that this is bad.. but you know what? when you buy these things... those pretty ribbons that they tie them on with?? well.. you have to sew them on yourself... yup... you read that right... you pay any where from $50-80 a pair and THEN you have to sew on the ribbons!! WTF?? I mean.. come on.. you are told how to sew them on.. everyone sews them the same way.. so why do I get to sew them on??? and then... get this.. Hannah will take these beautiful shoes and break the shank in the sole.. yup.. crack city.. AND.. if I am lucky.. they will last her for a year... IF I am lucky....
And then there is Facebook.. and how Mafia Wars keeps freezing up on me.. and how slow it runs..
Then there is Kohls store.. don't even go there with me.. Just don't even want to go there... let's just say... I HATE the store and the employees... yup.. that is the best... (my blood pressure may be coming down at some point)
AND.. we are lucky enough to be on vacation next week.. we aren't doing anything special.. hanging around here.. which is fine with me.. I actually like that.. but still..

Summer... What am I going to do with Hannah???
Well.. I am sure that there are others out there who will have the same problem.. What do you do with a pre-teen kid..??.. well.. Hannah wants to stay at home. I am ok with that.. our neighbors are kind enough to let her swim in their pool.. she has a bike and can ride it to the city pool.. she has a ton of friends.. but the mom in me,... well a bit on the OMG side of things.. My little baby is growing up! There are enough stay at home moms around that she will be fine.. there are enough new friends around that she can hang with.. so I am ok.. (I am not sure who I am trying to convince here)...
Then there is dance.. YUP.. dance.. 9 hours a week of classes.. she is taking everything this summer including Hip Hop.. Had to go and get new pointe shoes today so that she will have them broke in by fall.. I am sure that she will have some sore toes this month... of course mom has to sew the ribbons on.. One would think with the cost of pointe shoes, ribbons would be sewn on already!!!
She is excited because this means that she gets to retire her 1st pair.. which means that she will have them hanging in her room...

Star Trek...
OK.. I admit it.. I have been bitten by the whole Star Trek thing! Pat and I went to the movie today.. and well... I LOVED IT... OMG!!! And Chris Pine as J T Kirk.. he was HOT! Then there was Zachary Quinto who played Spock.. and he looked like a young Leonard Nemoy! They had all the charaters... Sulu, Scotty, McCoy, and Uhura! If you just see this movie and nothing else you understand it.. if you know everything about Star Trek you get it.. it was a perfect movie!!

Dance recital.... Hannah style
So last night.. Hannah had her dance recital.. (thank god it is over!) She had 7 YES count them 7 dances this year! I was pretty impressed by her! I hadn't seen much of what she has been doing this year. I have seen (a really large number of times) her production number of New York, New York, and her tap number Dueling Divas. So I haven't seen her perform her ballet or pointe number... or jazz... or for that matter the whole Dad and Daughter thing... I was in shock!! I mean mouth drop open OMG shock when she did her pointe number!! I mean.. When did she learn how to dance like that?? And she was in an actual tu-tu!! so that was really cool too!
OK.. the Dad and Daughter number!! Can I tell you the crowd went wild?? The company dancer's Dad's were fabulous! OK, so Pat's group was the best.. they did a whole number with a military theme... One group did "Who let the dog's out", then there was "In the Navy"... and then Pat's group did "Danger Zone"... they had leather jackets dark glasses... very cool! I was yelling and clapping so hard.. my voice was almost gone!
Then after the dance recital.. the company girls went to Baker's Square... Which was a total blast! We had about 50 people there! That poor waitress!!
So since they don't allow pictures at the recital.. I don't have any pictures yet!! But they will be coming soon.. I promise!! I also have the DVD coming..
I am glad that we are done with dance for awhile.. at least the performances! I need a break!!

What I have been reading...
OK, so I have been doing some reading! A lot of reading.. ok, not a lot.. but a little bit of reading...
Dawn gave me this book for my birthday.. OMG.. I cried.. It was good.. very easy.. just notes that were left of the refrigerator between a mom and daughter.. Good read!!
Then of course.. well, I needed to finish the latest series.. this was good. ok, a little muddled at the end. But all and all.. a good read.. will try to get Hannah to read all of the books..
Another book that Dawn lent me.. OMG.. this was so good.. so sweet.. so summer read.. I know most have probably already read it.. but if you haven't... like I said.. a good summer read...
And then there is Genesis.. Ms Willems, Hannah's reading teacher asked me to read this and let her know what I thought.. if it was appropriate for 6th graders..
well.. this was great! a lot like The Giver... but not.. a total surprise at the end.. a bit more than what a lot of the 6th graders could handle, but if you have one of those precocious kids.. well.. they might like it...
I have a couple more books to read.. and to tell you the truth.. it's been nice to get back to all the reading...

Dawn gave me this book for my birthday.. OMG.. I cried.. It was good.. very easy.. just notes that were left of the refrigerator between a mom and daughter.. Good read!!
Then of course.. well, I needed to finish the latest series.. this was good. ok, a little muddled at the end. But all and all.. a good read.. will try to get Hannah to read all of the books..
Another book that Dawn lent me.. OMG.. this was so good.. so sweet.. so summer read.. I know most have probably already read it.. but if you haven't... like I said.. a good summer read...
And then there is Genesis.. Ms Willems, Hannah's reading teacher asked me to read this and let her know what I thought.. if it was appropriate for 6th graders..

Yup that is right.. I have a post.. I know I know.. it's been like forever.. What can I say...
Well I am posting today.. mainly because it is my birthday.. yup that is right.. the big 43 today! It doesn't bother me getting older. I know people might find that hard to believe, but really, I enjoy it. What is my other option?? OH, right.. death! So as I said, I don't mind it. Turning 40 wasn't a big deal, why should it be? And 43? Just another number.
I think that mainly, it doesn't bother me, because in my 43 years, I have found some wonderful friends! By best friend Dawn who I have known for years.... and my "newer" friends that I have here in MN... and my even newer friends that I found from blogging!(and if you are reading this.. that includes you...) So really I get to celebrate how fortunate I am.. how really lucky I have been.
Now.. that doesn't even include my super terrific hubby and daughter.. who in the last week, have had to celebrate Mother's Day... Which Hannah gave me the new Michael J Fox book, and Pat got me a shirt and jacket.. and we went to watch Hannah dance... and then Pat and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary on Wed, May 13.. Which Pat sent me flowers at work.. and got me Channel #5!! And finally on Saturday we got to go to Kincaid's for dinner!!
So, I wanted to say thanks to every one of my friends today.. being friends with you is my bestest gift to myself! And isn't that what life is really about?? Your friends and family.. and the love you get from them???

April 30th... deadline!
Well.. I made it.. I am still a Stampin' Up demo.. I made it out of pending.. Thanks to a wonderful customer of mine... so I am safe for another couple months.. if anyone cares..
I have been stamping some.. not much.. things are really busy.. I wonder if I stamped if that would relax me a little?? hmmm...
My friend Karen is in Mexico right now.. I am sure having a great time.. drinking those wonderful umbrella drinks.. and soaking up the sun!! She wasn't worried about the whole flu thing.. something about a doctor and a nurse and hand sanitizer.. hope they let her back in!!
Hannah has another dance competition starting tomorrow night.. and all say Saturday. I hope that they do well.. She got her tap costume.. REALLY cute! Orange and black! and I guess that she gets an actual tu-tu for pointe!!
That is about all that is going on right now..
